I don’t demand myself that I was a good student, rather the student of moderate level. Nevertheless, I am happy for my present academic records. This is my achievement more than my expectation!
At the early part of my life, my father was a teacher of primary School, subsequently he quieted his job and involve himself into his paternal business. My father had less attention about our education, but my mom(meritorious and intelligent but illiterate) was serious about our study. My dad used to annoyed when I failed to do good results in the examinations of my early primary school. At that time he told, “don’t need to go school, better involve yourself to cultivate our huge paddy field”. I felt happy hearing this so called good news from my dad.
When I was promoted from class three to class four, then Liberation war was started and it was ended at the last part of class Four since 16 December,1971 . Without any regular study, all of we got free promotion from concerned class to next class. After successful liberation war, I felt very happy for this promotion.
When I was promoted to class five without study of 9 months, at that time I was so weak in mathematics then my father helped me to expedite my mathematical knowledge.
When I was student of class five, there were 8 students took part in primary school scholarship examination, I didn’t get selection due to my less meritorious skills. But the interesting issue was that none of 8 students got scholarship. This was my quality of knowledge educational status primary level.
After finishing my primary education I got admitted in class six at Mohini Mohon Viddyapith the renowned high school of Khustia district town. At this period I used to live my grandmother’s house, the satellite town of kushtia.
I did very rubbish results in the first terminal examination of class six, then I was badly insulted by the other town based students of that class.I was tremendously shocked and gave serious attention to my study. Finally I stood third position in the final examination of class six among around 80 students of the class. From then, I was serious to my study. I stood first in the final examination of class Nine and I switched my former school to Kushtia Zilla (district) School, the only government boys school of Kushtia town. I continued my study only one year over there. The overall atmosphere of Zilla School was nice and most of my fellow classmates were highly meritorious, that helped me to get good results in the SSC Examination. In 1978, I passed SSC(Science) examination having first division(71.3% marks) along with 4 letter marks. At that period that was very fantastic results.
After passing SSC examination I was admitted at Kushtia Government College. I completed HSC(Science) examination in 1980 and obtained first division having 64.1% marks out of 1000.
Actually I was interested to have my higher study in engineering science but I didn’t get chance at Engineering University.
I was less interested to have my study on medical science. But if I were appeared before in the viva voce medical admission test, obviously I will get chance, because during that period the medical admission systems was SSC and HSC results based. There was only a viva voce of 10 marks. As because I was less interested, therefore I didn’t submit my application in due date. At last, receiving family pressure, I submitted an application by my another senior friend without attachment error of photograph, so that my admission form was banned.
In that regime, there was a flying report that if anyone admit oneself in Agriculture faculty then positively you will get a class one job immediate after completion of graduation. That flying report insisted me to take admission at Bangladesh Agricultural University(BAU). After my admission at BAU some of my friends irritated me why did I not get admission in medical science.
That irritation hurt me, so that I didn’t harvest good results in the early part of BAU.Gradually I did a good results, secured first class in M.sc(Ag) Entomology in 1985(held in 1989 due to session jam)
After completion of highly competitive Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination I was finally selected as a Member of BCS Agriculture Cadre and I joined on 20.12.1989 as Subject Matter Officer of Mollahat Upazilla Agriculture Office, Bangerhat, under Departmental of Agricultural Extension(DAE) of Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh.
In 1994 I was awarded a PhD scholarship under the Agriculture Support Services’ Project. Finally in 1999, I completed my PhD on Entomology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Salna ,Gazipur in collaboration with the University of Reading in UK.
